About the Gala
Our gala is themed "Creating a World Where It Is Easier to Love," inspired by the visionary work of Paulo Freire. Together, we'll reflect on the power of education and community engagement to create positive change.
The gala will directly benefit the CBB Program, with proceeds going towards supporting the program’s work to train culturally competent counselors who are equipped to work effectively with diverse communities.
Celebrating Achievements
We are pleased to announce the Maria Nieto Senour Heart of CBB award, named in honor of Dr. Maria Nieto Senour, San Diego State University Faculty Emeritus, and the first recipient of the award. Dr. Nola Butler-Byrd, CBB Program Director, will be honored for her remarkable contributions to the program.
Join us as we recognize and honor the individuals who have contributed to the program's success over the past 50 years. Their dedication and commitment have made a lasting impact on countless lives.

We are grateful for the generous support provided by the San Diego Imperial Counties Community College Association (SDICCCA), serving as the title sponsor of the event. Their commitment to education and community empowerment echoes our mission.
We extend our gratitude to San Diego State University, Grossmont Cuyamaca Community College District, San Diego Community College District, and After School Unlimited for their generous support and partnership.
